Church History

KINGDOM BUILDERS COGIC

History of the Church...

In August of 1988, while serving on military training and Virginia, God called Elder Kenneth L. Fowlkes to a pastoral ministry. It was here God gave his purpose and direction for this call. God led Elder Fowlkes to His Word, I Corinthians 3:10 and instructed him to "Build My Kingdom". It was at this time that God gave Pastor Fowlkes to church name of "Kingdom Builders Church of God in Christ." Started with nothing more than faith in God, Pastor Fowlkes moved in the spirit of obedience and was granted permission to use Calvary Chapel on the Fort Meade army base in Fort Meade, Maryland. The first Bible study was held in November 1988. The Bible study group consisted of Pastor Fowlkes, Brother Riley and two other soldiers stationed at the Fort Meade army base. God soon provided a way for Pastor Fowlkes to hold the weekly joy night services on Friday nights. These services started on December 12, 1988. Soon after, Brother Archie Harris (now Pastor Harris) came to help. Pastor Fowlkes, still walking by faith and having neither money nor any foreseeable means of acquiring any, continued to trust God to provide for the ministry. Souls were added to the Kingdom as this man of God continued to do the will of Him who called him. It was April 1989, that God provided a way for Kingdom Builders COGIC to conduct its first Sunday morning service at McArthur Middle School, Fort Meade, Maryland, with the family and a few faithful members. In October 1989, God blessed Kingdom Builders to move into another facility on Telegraph Road in Severn Maryland, and as the church grew it soon became overcrowded. God led Pastor Fowlkes and the church family to 7466 New Ridge Road, Hanover Maryland, where they served for 13 years. The ministry grew and prospered under the leadership of Pastor Kenneth Fowlkes, who put his trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. Now, in November 2004, God has blessed Kingdom Builders and Pastor Fowlkes to move to an even larger facility, which was built from the ground up. The new location is 1490 Matthewstown Road, Hanover, Maryland. God be the glory! Three other churches have come out of this ministry, new life Christian Center (Pastor Harris and Laurel); True Believers Ministry (Pastor Barnes in Capitol Heights), and True Tabernacle (Pastor Stiles in Glen Bernie).
